Bright Blue Gorilla is Robyn Rosenkrantz and Michael Glover.

BBG was born in 1990, when we quit our L.A. jobs, sold everything we had (except our guitars), and bought one-way tickets to Amsterdam. (It was the cheapest ticket - $199 one-way!)

We played in streets, cafes, smokey bars, concert halls, EVERYWHERE! In 1991, Utrecht (NL) music studio owner Andre Bunt gave us a break: he took pity on us (and our terrible-sounding cassette tape demo) and gave us some free studio time. With that new recording, we got a deal with Virgin Benelux and made 2 cds for the label. We started opening for acts like Mary Black, Townes Van Zandt, Luka Bloom, Louden Wainwright, and many others. When the Virgin deal ended, we decided to make our own CDs (teaming up with Andre Bunt and American record producer Ken Rose) and we started touring worldwide.

Back in Los Angeles in 2004, we got a lucky break and were cast in the Alec Baldwin & Matthew Broderick film The Last Shot. With that Hollywood paycheck we bought a camera and started making feature films, writing-directing-producing, the whole deal. A friend suggested that we tour cinemas with our movies, just like we toured concert halls with our music. We tried the idea and it worked like a charm. We've been touring that way ever since. (But we still do some music-only shows.)

So far we've made 7 feature films, 14 CDs and played over 4000 live shows! We're now celebrating the wide-release of the latest BBG picture: 36 Husbands! The shoot started in Australia, then to Europe, ending Principle Photography in Los Angeles. It's a Mystical- Musical-Romantic-Kung-Fu-Spy-Comedy! Recently we were honored by UK's CUT FRAME MAGAZINE who gave us the cover and a big story to celebrate our 31st year in the business!

BBG FILMOGRAPHY:

36 HUSBANDS

It's a mystical-musical-romantic-kung-fu-spy-comedy! Starring 3 powerful women (and a bunch of husbands). Film Ink (Australia) writes: "This sci-fi, time-travel-meets-James-Bond wonderfully entertaining film is a tad ridiculous, with a slight spine for a story, but just go with it. Don’t ask questions, don’t take it seriously. It’s not “the united federation of planets” sci-fi, but there is an indication from the very first scene that viewers should just go along for the ride. It’s more Spy vs Spy from Mad Magazine (if any reader remembers back that far), a pseudo homage to the absurd Charlie’s Angels in a very silly sort of way... Christa Pasch, Roberta Bianchini and Nadine Nourney are fabulous as the three protagonists. The chemistry between them is magic, becoming increasingly clear as the story unfolds."

MR. RUDOLPHO'S JUBILEE
Emmy winner Christiane Paul joins Francesco Mazzini and a strong ensemble cast in Mr. Rudolpho’s Jubilee. Mr. Rudolpho is an Italian fashion designer: Rich, famous, and depressed. Surrounded by luxury, monitored 24/7 by a security team, hated by the CEO of Rudolpho Inc., he’s a prisoner of success. Rudolpho’s been sketching something in his moleskin book for months, but nobody knows what it is. Turns out he’s making plans for suicide. Good timing, because the CEO is planning to bump him off. Rudolpho heads to Berlin for Fashion Week to end it all, with the killers not far behind. But, this being a Bright Blue Gorilla film, things don’t always go as planned... He’s thrown in with some off-the-grid artists - the Boheems - who have no idea who he is. Thinking he’s destitute, they invite him to stay. Meanwhile, cops, killers, reporters, and Interpol all search for him. Rudolpho, happy in his hide-out, is hanging with the Boheems - and maybe falling for one of them... MRJ is a surreal comedy romance, told by two “Musical Angels”, aka Bright Blue Gorilla as the Greek Chorus. Part screwball comedy, part hippie musical, with a pinch of cop-show thrown in for flavor, Mr. Rudolpho’s Jubilee deliciously mixes up form and mashes up genre. BBG shot Mr. Rudolpho's Jubilee in Berlin and Italy - hot off the heels of their trip to the Beijing International Film Festival in support of Go with Le Flo. (Go with Le Flo was featured at the Beijing festival.)

GO WITH LE FLO
Go With Le Flo is a romantic comedy in German and French (with English subtitles), shot in Berlin. Go with Le Flo is an international labor of love with cast & crew from 20 different countries. It stars Denis Aubert, Marina Senkel, and some fresh new faces, many from the legendary Bertolt Brecht theater: Berliner Ensemble. It was if all Berlin conspired to get this movie made: Berlin designers gave their original clothing designs and Berlin businesses offered beautiful locations for filming. Go With Le Flo is a charming story about finding true love and taking chances.

LOSE WITH ENGLISH
Shot guerilla-style on the streets of Los Angeles. The story of English Jones, former TV star, host of the exercise show "Lose With English". As the movie begins we find English down on his luck, hiding from the mob, dreaming of a comeback. Will he hit the big-time before the Italians hit him?

KARATE FILM CAFE'

90 minutes of love, death, music & bad food. On the corner of Hollywood & Vine is a DVD store with films nobody wants, a Cafe' with the world's worst cook, and a Karate studio which teaches very odd Karate. The interaction between these three shops - run by losers & misfits - is the basis for the story. For this film, BBG and an international crew built sets on a soundstage in L.A. The result is a surreal comedy with plenty of surprises.

THE MIND OF HENRY LIME

Henry Lime sells security fences to the Beverly Hills elite. He once was a top salesman, but lately he can't sleep & has trouble remembering even the simplest things. What's the answer? Lazarine, the new wonder-drug from Mizer Pharmaceutical. It works like a charm - with a slight side-effect: Amanda, the invisible woman who won't go away. Henry Lime won the "Best Comedy Feature" award at the SMTV Film Festival in Bombay, and was an "Official Selection" of both the Arhus Film Festival in Denmark and the Portabello Festival in London. The End of The Pier Film Fest in the UK gave The Mind of Henry Lime a "Special Commendation" in the "Best Feature Film" category.

SISTER SARAH'S SKY

The very first BBG feature film is the story of a young girl from a conservative family who rebels by secretly studying Marxism. She spends the summer with her Bohemian aunt, uncle, and their eccentric artist friends and gets a new perspective on life. The Orange County Register said: "Although rated G, Sister Sarah's Sky delivers an artful and intelligent comedic look at everything from communism and capitalism to meditation and the music industry. The film also takes a surprisingly deep look at the forces that can divide and reunite families."MUSIC
We've released 14 CDs as Bright Blue Gorilla in various countries & configurations. We've also been lucky to get our music in films & TV: Shows like Dawson's Creek, The Last Shot, Plain Jane, 100 Girls, and Freaky Links. Nokia also used BBG music in one of their commercials. (The commercial inspired the BBG song: "Raymond" (He talks to the dead on his Nokia.)

LIVE SHOWS

What can you expect at a Bright Blue Gorilla show? Beautiful vocal harmonies, lots of laughs, songs to inspire the soul, stories and comedy improvisation. We use acoustic guitars, mini guitar, bongos, mystical drum, harmonium, tablas, harmonica, flute, and any strange instrument we can get our hands on!

WORKSHOPS

We love to "give back" by teaching workshops at film and music schools. It's a joy to shart the experience we've gained from all those years of making Bright Blue Gorilla a creative reality. The reaction to the workshops has been very rewarding.

PRODUCTIONS
After shooting 7 feature films, recording 31 years of music, and shooting literally thousands of short-form videos we've learned a thing or two about productions. A few years back a friend-of-a-friend asked us to shoot something for their business. We did, and it came out great: They were happy, we were happy; what more could you want? So, if you have a project in mind, large or small, and would like Gorilla help in visualizing, planning, and making it real, drop us an email and let's create! Check out these Behind-the-Scenes clips to see the Gorilla team in action!

SOME TRIVIA ABOUT BBG:
- Robyn worked with Danish director Thomas Vinterberg, dubbing a voice for a 10 year old boy, in the film "It's All About Love." (Michael also did assorted voice dubbing of people in a crowd scene in the film.)
- In the late 1980's Robyn produced, wrote music for, and appeared in a major anti-drunk-driving video called "Innocent". It was played on MTV and helped bring awareness of this significant problem. (Robyn's sister, Dee Dee, was killed by a drunk driver.)
- Michael was one of the editors on the Emmy-Winning MTV series "The Osbournes". He began his editing career as a lowly dailies editor - just like Frank Capra and David Lean! :)
- Robyn and Michael came close to being eaten by a crocodile in the Andaman Islands. (Ask them the story sometime...)
- Robyn is in the big finale concert scene of "A Mighty Wind". Look for her in the front row.
- Michael played "The World's Weakest Man" in a commercial for Stanley Tools, which aired during the Superbowl. (That's MG demonstrating his prowess with the "balloon squeeze" and the "peanut lift".)
- As a voice-artist MG has done voiceover work for Disney, ABC television, Microsoft, and many others. He also directed voicover sessions with stars such as Mark Wahlberg, and Hollywood legends Peter Falk, George Takei, Levar Burton, Ed Asner, and Brock Peters. (Quite an honor!)
- In the early BBG years (1991 to be exact), Robyn did a 10-city sold-out "solo" tour in Belgium with Donovan. Michael mixed the sound for the show because Donovan didn't want a duo opening for him, only a solo performer. (Michael says) "Robyn was great and won the hearts of every person in the audience!"
- In 1990, Robyn opened (again solo) for Suzanne Vega at the huge Dranouter Folk Festival in Belgium. (Michael says he's lucky Robyn didn't go off on a solo career!)
