Now
that the principle photography is finished for their new film, "Karate
Film Café", the Gorillas are on
tour again with their award-winning feature film, The
Mind of Henry Lime. (They'll be editing
Karate Film Café
while they tour.)
The Mind of Henry Lime
won the "Best Comedy Feature"
award at the SMTV Film Festival in Bombay, and was an "Official
Selection" of
both the Arhus Film Festival in Denmark and the Portabello Festival
in London. The End of The Pier Film Fest in the UK gave Henry
Lime a "Special
Commendation" in the "Best
Feature Film" category.
Henry
Lime and their 1st film, Sister
Sarah's Sky, were both written
and directed by Michael Glover and produced by Robyn Rosenkrantz
- with music by Bright Blue Gorilla of course!
BBG
has released 11 CDs and has been touring all over the world - with hardly
a pause - since 1990. They've shared the stage and screen with
artists such as Lily Thomlin, Alec Baldwin, Suzanne Vega, Toni Collette,
Loudon Wainwright, Buck Henry, Matthew Broderick and many many others.
(You can see BBG in the film "The Last Shot" with Alec Baldwin
and Matthew Broderick. A Disney/Touchstone Pictures Release.)
It
all started
in 1990, when Robyn & Michael quit their L.A. jobs, sold everything
they had (except their guitars), and bought one-way tickets to Europe.
They’ve been living a life of music and adventure ever since.
What can you expect at a Bright Blue Gorilla show? Beautiful vocal harmonies,
lots of laughs, songs to inspire the soul, stories and comedy improvisation.
BBG uses acoustic guitars, mini guitar, electric bass, bongos, mystical
drum,
harmonica, flute, and the world-famous DRUM-FEET!
GORILLAS
POP UP IN THE STRANGEST PLACES:
>>>
In the MTV show, The Osbournes, you can hear 3 Bright Blue
Gorilla songs.
>>>
In the Disney/Touchstone film, The Last
Shot, they act and sing four songs and play friends of Matthew
Broderick.
>>>
In the film, A Mighty Wind, watch for Robyn during the concert
finale.
>>> In the film, It's All
About Love, by Danish Director, Thomas Vinterberg, Robyn and
Michael's voices replace several of the actors voices. The actors
in question were from Europe and had accents that the director didn't
think sounded American enough.
>>> On the TV show, Enterprise,
Michael is an alien - a "Tranon" to be exact.
>>>
On the TV show, The O.C., Michael played "a parole officer
who looks like Lou Reed."
>>> On the TV show, Boston
Legal, Michael played the judge in the Michael Jackson trial
who quits the case to become a Phil Spector look-alike. (No kidding.)
>>> You can see the gorillas
in TV commercials for Dairy Queen, Stanley Tools, the Academy Awards,
Nokia phones, Disney Channel, and the German sit-com Alles Atze.
>>>
Robyn's India Photos appear in the coffee table book "Photo Crafts,"
published by Lark Books.
>>> Their voice characterizations
are on the Microsoft game, Mech Warrior, and on various Disney
Channel promos, commercials, etc.
